Northamptonshire

Northamptonshire's country parks, pocket parks and county heritage sites are essential pieces of the Northhamptonshire's mosaic of community and cultural assets. Our aim is to promote safe and enjoyable access to these enriching venues across the county.

People have been living and working in Northamptonshire for over 10,000 years and have left their mark on the countryside and townscapes visible to us today.

County Heritage Sites
From the earthwork remains of a medieval castle in Long Buckby to an 18th century stone dovecote in Warmington ... Northamptonshire County Council looks after 25 historic buildings, sites and monuments across the county.

Stocks, manors, castles, monuments, village crosses, whipping posts, dovecotes, gates and gateways - the County Heritage Sites are a visible reminder of medieval and early modern Northamptonshire - a time when the local manor dominated village life and the rural economy.

All the County Heritage Sites are open to the public and a free leaflet is available giving details of the sites and their locations is available from Tourist Information Centres, local libraries and Country Park Visitor Centres.
